Hello, people of the interwebz! I know you're reading this!

So I've had an invisible stat counter on my blog for years now. It was invisible because I didn't really think it was going to have many hits. But I've just recently installed a stat counter on my tumblr and I saw that TONS of people still come to this blog everyday (the counter's visible now, see it's at over 43,000 hits? 43,000, that's right, count em!)

Even though I haven't update in a really long time. So I think I'm going to get back to this. I doubt my old readers are still around, but I hope new readers will come! It will be a fashion blog and an arts blog and a me blog, so stay tuned for more.

And when I'm back on my other computer I'll make a new header, because I don't love this current one and I can make some quality headers.

I've been tagged ! By Krissy ...there are some rules to this game that I will follow completely later & one is naming 6 unspectacular quirks.

My unspectacular quirks:
1. I live near a zoo, so monkeys wake me up and I can see horses from the window in the attic.
2. I always check the little L or R on my headphones, if they're not right it drives me crazy !
3. I ALWAYS correct double negatives, even if they're on tv or in a song or in another person's conversation.
4. I quote funny things kids in my class say in the back of my notebooks.
5. I can say "My mom and dad aren't home right now. They went to visit my brother in the hospital. My brother and his roommate were in a car accident last week. They will come home next week." in sign language.
6. I've never eaten meat. It's icky. I'm a vegan- [or a vegetarian+] I don't eat milk, meat, or eggs.

There are more rules about like tagging other bloggers...I'm going to see the ballet tomorrow hahaha !

X marks the spot..buried treasure...I FOUND THE MAGAZINE ! It's V Magazine. I've never read that what does the V stand for ? I've been looking for it for days with all my friends and when I saw a new magazine in the shop I asked my friend to check the back and it was yellow ! Big fashion magazine, yellow back cover, could this be it ? I don't know, because the guy wouldn't let me read it in the store...But I still think that's it.
My best friend and I are going as the same thing for Halloween. We didn't even know until we were talking about it & we like, wait you're going as a flappper ? I'm going as a flapper ! It's really just this week that we've realized how alike we are; which is weird because I've known her for FIVE YEARS.
Ugh. I really hate Daisy Lowe.

But I love Lindsay Lohan. She should start making good movies again.

This line was all classic and sleek and black & white; my favourite colors. I just watched that Coco Chanel movie [kinda boring...why did she like lose her accent when she got old ?] ANYWAY, I was all into black and white after that so I was very into this line, with dresses and pants that fit great and had nice little touches...I think sleek is my new favourite word. And the last look [28, below] was so cool, about to take flight in that fabulous cape ! At first I was like, uhm. Evening dress ? But then I was very excited that she was going to fly away in a sweet & comfortable look of white pants.

I'd never heard of this designer, but when I saw the pictures of her show, I knew I would like her. Apparently she was inspired by a vintage butterfly print, so there were lots of butterflies on the pieces. And lots of great necklaces at the beginning of the show ! And look at the great belt on look 24 below ! Ha, I didn't have many favourite pieces, but I really like the accessories. I also liked the makeup, with the pink eyeshadows, but not the hair...it looks too messy.

Spring 2009 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Week started on Friday so I headed to The Online Home of Vogue, style.com, where there's always great coverage. I looked at most of the shows but I thought they were pretty boring, so I'll just show my favourite looks from two:

I liked this line, there were lots of pretty shirtdresses and cute jumpsuits, and dresses with pockets in bright colors, and then there were lots of looks with sleek pants and shiny jackets that I liked too.

I kind of like Erin Fetherston. I've seen really cute girly dresses from her, but I'm usually disappointed with her her runways. This season she used some interesting colors, very pastel-icecreamy. Hollaback To School

Boo, school started today. I'm in the 10th grade and I cant wait for it to be over...I do love back to school shopping though, I always gravitate towards things that are shades of black and white, but it's still technically summer and I can't wear my two favorite colors completely just yet.

Sooooo I was flipping through my little sister's old Archie comics and I discovered that Veronica Lodge is just about the most stylish cartoon character ever drawn. She always looks chic and sosphisticated and she always completely owns her look. I've created this collage so you can get a taste of just how great she is:

In these few days I haven't posted I...

- Saw The House Bunny, The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2, and The Rocker... they were all very good, and everything Lena [Alexis Bledel] wore was cute. I liked Tibby's [Amber Tamblyn]cool NY style too. I've seen 12 movies this summer. I just go for the matinee at like noon and stay there the whole day.

- Waited in line for 2.5 hours to get cheap Broadway tickets. 13 the Musical, with an all-teenage cast ! It's my first show, excitingggggg.

- Read The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson, Model by Cheryl Diamond, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Leviathan...I love everything by Eva Ibbotson and this did not disappoint, Model was ohkay I just really like reading books about modeling..And I loved Nick and Norah's I can't wait for the movie either I looove Kat Dennings and Michael Cera.

- Bought The Bible, the September Issue of Vogue. '798 pages of brilliant fall fashion' I think Keira Knightley's hair on the cover looked terrible, but there was a reeeeally great spread ft. Caroline Trentini & the boys from Billy Elliot the musical. And lots of patterned tights ! I need some !

Today I went out to collect my art from the college I took at art class at earlier this summer, and I was really excited because there's this Tibetan store that has a scarf that I NEED for back to school. It's brown and gold and has zebra stripes and fringe, I was so happy and the store was closed ! It was pretty bad, but when I got home my mom ordered this sweater I wanted from delias.com. delias & alloy are having their end of the season clearance sales, and theres like 6328688% off ! [although I think 75 is the right percentage :]

I've got help out with my mom's painting in exchange for the sweater..she's an artist, you can click on the link to see her stuff; it's pretty cool.

I went to France last year with the band & youth media clubs at my school...We played in a jazz concert with supercool French kids. We lived in their houses & they came to NY and we did our concert again and lived in our houses..it was pretty awesome...!

Today I hung out with my bestfran D in Union. She has really great style and says cool words like "metallic sheen" to describe things. HAHA, she should start a fashion blog, she always looks effortlessly cool and I'm so jealous. I like when people put up pictures of themselves in their blogs but I wear the same clothes a lot so I think it would get a little redundant...and my camera is opposite of good [:

Right so, once upon a time I wrote "I forgot someone else, but I'll write about her tomorrow." I forgot again. I forget things really easily, I go through whole TV shows saying things like "OMG I hate Katie !" and my sister will be like "Uh...her name's Emily. There's no Katie on this show." and I'm like, "Really ? She looks like a Katie."

It was Cat Deeley & Emmy Rossum who I forgot. I made collages, because I don't really like scrolling and looking at like a million pictures.

Cat Deeley, host of So You Think You Can Dance, speaks with a cool accent and is a supertall amazon. She always wears great dresses and does her hair great

Emmy Rossum was in like three movies, and I've only seen her in The Day After Tomorrow, but I think she's gorgeous and wears really pretty minidresses. I saw her in an old Teen Vogue today and was like OMG That is really cute ! That's what you think when you see her, no ?

Right so. Back in the day I wrote a post about my favourite stylish celebrities and I forgot one I truly loved; Jenny Lewis ! If you didn't know, Jenny sings and writes the amazing songs for my favourite band Rilo Kiley. Teen Choice Awards

Well; after watching this award show I was very disappointed to see that the Jonas Brothers won HottestMaleHottie over Chace Crawford & Zac Efron.
But I was really disappointed by the lack of stylish celebrities.

un. I'm not really into the wearing of pants at award shows; and was not impressed by Jordin Spark's teeshirt & jeans. And Lil Mama looked like Little Bo Peep. And Demi Lovato; in those military jackets that we were wearing like 3 seasons ago.
deux. Hayden; LC (in a dress that she "designed"); and Fergie all had the same kind of ombre/tie-dye long dresses. I like Hayden's okay.
trois. I liked Scarlett Johannsson's dress; she's always perfection. I liked Miley's too; but I think minidresses & boots makes everyone look short. Kim Kardashian was a mess in her poofy pastel prom dress and dark lipstick.
quatre. Blake Lively didn't know who made her dress; which I think is unforgivable. I liked Kristen Bell's highwaisted skirt & beige top & shoes; but I don't think the accessories matched...and Rachel Bilson's just here to fill the space [:

Celebrities are boring !

I got the new issue of Teen Vogue, which was great. Teen Vogue is the one magazine I just buy and sit down and read cover to cover. I love when there Fashion from A to Z every season, and this issue has that. The article on Vanessa Hudgens was dull, I took nothing away from it. I don't know, it doesn't really seem like many celebrities have stories to tell us. It's just like, talking about my new movie/cd, talking about being famous, not talking about my private life... Always the same. I'm bored with it.

On the bright side of fashion, it looks like preppy is the style for fall. I best be getting myself a blazer...;]

I made some high waisted shorts this week. Well; I sewed a bit; messed them up a bit; had my mom rip out the stitches and do them over, sewed a little more, and then had my mom finish them for me. But I TOTALLY sewed the buttons on completely [:

Even though I blasted Cosmogirl! for having LC on the cover; I reeeeally like the issue. The magazine has a new look and a lot more features on music and fashion and beauty. I did waste three minutes of my life reading the LC article though. And I see that Vanessa Hudgens will be on the cover of Teen Vogue, which KILLS ME.

My art class weekend homework was two self-portraits; one like the one above & one with "unconventional mediums" which is art-speak for fun materials; like tea and nail polish and yarn. I haven't started that one yet...I should stop blogging and begin !

Bubble Wand Necklace

I saw this Cynthia Rowley bubble wand in an old issue of Teen Vogue and I definitely fell in love with it right away. I didn't fall in love with the $150 price tag though. So, I decided to D.I.Y ![: Ha; and I bought some bubbles (2 for $1, so I got some for my sisters) and gold nail polish; and made my very own bubble necklace. The polish is currently drying; but I'll try to get a picture when it's finished.

To honor 34th St's makeover, the tattoo artist Kat Von D made an appearance. I loooove Kat Von D and LA Ink, so I had to wait in line for three and a half hours before I could meet her. John Galliano's one of my favourite designers, and John Galliano for Dior too. The above dress, modeled by Mia Rosing is from the Couture 2008 Christian Dior collection. And I'm pretty sure I stopped breathing when I saw it, it's completely perfection. The color, the way the fabric folds like paper, the shimmery lines between each tier. It's art. It seems so delicate to wear, like it would tear when you walk. I would love to see it move. You can see the complete collection here.

The Tale of Despereaux Movie

TToD was THE BEST book ever, my sister and I have read it about five times so when we found out it was going to be turned into a movie we launched into a screaming fit that left my sister choking and me crying. The trailer makes it look a bit like a lame kid movie with jokes and not the amazing story of a mouse, a Princess, some soup, and a spool of thread that TToD is, but I still cant wait.

Magazines

I love Teen Vogue, Cosmogirl, and Seventeen magazines but I'm so irritated with this annoying rotation of cover girls ! Blake, Vanessa, LC, Hayden I'm like, I JUST READ that article about her ! But no article's ever made me realize how much I hate Vanessa Hudgens like the one in Cosmogirl. She was rude, mean, and soooooo ignorant !

Red Nails

I have to stop biting my nails. I've been a biter since kindergarten. Red nail polish always makes me feel glamorous, so I have to stop biting so I can have long nails for painting. My sister's like, "I stopped biting my nails." I was like, "When did you even start biting your nails ?" Copycat.

It's called Ombre.

With an accent on the e. Not "the dresses that would start off in one color and end in a darker one" like I mentioned in the blog about Lord & Taylor. It's a French term that means "shaded." & I loooove it ![: The dress is Laundry by Design, if you were wondering. Guess this means I don't need to post tomorrow !

I love this fabulous dress, modeled by the gorgeous Georgina Stojilkovic. It's from Oscar de la Renta's Resort 2009 collection. I love the layered look of two dresses & two colors. Lord and Taylor

Yesterday was my first time in Lord and Taylor. My bestfran said, "You've never been to Lord and Taylor ?! Anyone who's anyone has been there !" So in we went, and it was heaven [: I really liked all of it, especially the dresses that would start off in one color and end in a darker one [my friend hated these :] We went in when the sky was dark and cloudy, looking for silver gladiators, and when we came out [gladiator-less, but we then found some at David Z] the sky was clear and blue and they sun was shining. Of course soon afterwards it started to pour, but I still think Lord and Taylor makes the sun shine.

Hi; I'm Zuri. I'm a sophomore and I live in NYC. I love the high-waisted trend, gladiator sandals, long eyelashes, magazines, and everything else to do with fashion. And I loooove to quote people. I like reading and going to the movies. I want to learn French, English, and sign language. I wear glasses and braces. I want to be a fashion illustrator when I'm older, although I'm not sure if I'll be needed, with all the cameras & stuff. But it's what I love to do. Okay; that's enough about me.
